Our Approach

All students can learn to read and write if they receive intentional, explicit, and systematic instruction. We begin by assessing areas of strength and growth before creating a personalized plan to help each student. Developing a solid foundation builds confident readers and writers. When students are confident in their abilities, learning seems easier and more accessible. For that reason, we focus on building a strong foundation of phonemic awareness and phonics while also building background knowledge, developing vocabulary, and increasing fluency and comprehension. Reading and writing go hand in hand. Our writing program helps students gain strong mechanics and learn strategies to express and organize their ideas.
